What Settle actually does with your data
It stores your window layouts as plain JSON on your Mac. Your layouts and window contents never leave the device. The only thing Settle sends is anonymous, aggregate usage and update data (described below) that cannot identify you.

About this website
The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It is privacy-first: no cookies, no fingerprinting, IP addresses are not stored. We see things like "200 people visited the homepage today from Türkiye" without ever knowing who you are.
The Get Settle download link goes through a small Cloudflare Worker that counts downloads (anonymous: country, browser family, OS family) so we know which version is in use. No personal identifiers, no advertising, no profiles. If you arrive from a campaign link or another website, the download link also carries that channel or site name (for example "producthunt"), which your browser keeps for up to 30 days so we can tell which sites send people here. It says nothing about you.
Settle also reports anonymous, aggregate usage events through the same Worker so we can see how many installs reach key moments (for example, how many snapped a window or were active today). To avoid double-counting within a single day, each install sends a token that is regenerated daily, cannot be linked across days, and identifies neither you nor your device. No personal identifiers, no advertising, no profiles.
About automatic updates
Settle uses Sparkle (the standard macOS auto-update framework) to check once a day whether a newer version exists. The check sends an anonymous profile so we can spot real-world issues:

MacBookPro18,3) - CPU type (Apple Silicon or Intel) and preferred language
No user ID. No name. No email. No way to identify you. The same guarantee covers the anonymous usage events above. The data lives in Cloudflare and is used to decide what we test before each release.
Why Settle asks for Accessibility permission
macOS requires Accessibility permission to move and resize windows. Settle uses it for exactly that. Nothing more.
Settle does not read keystrokes, screen contents, clipboard data, what's typed, what's visible, or anything else. It only reads and sets window positions.
About the AppleScript permission
When you save a layout, Settle asks Finder which folder is open so it can restore that path later. This is an optional permission. Decline and Settle still works. It just won't remember Finder paths.
About the purchase
Settle Pro ($9.99, one-time) is processed by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. Payment details, billing, and receipts happen on their servers. Settle only stores your license key locally in the macOS Keychain and contacts Lemon Squeezy's API once a day to confirm it's still valid. No personal data passes through our servers.

Settle is a productivity tool for adults. It doesn't target children. It doesn't collect information from anyone, regardless of age.
Changes to this policy
If Settle ever changes what it collects (right now: nothing), we'll update this page and mention it inside the app. Because it's a meaningful change, it'll be hard to miss.
